RE; Motivation letter for Master in Energy Management
Dear Sir, Madam
With this letter, I am applying for a position in the Masters in Energy management program, offered at Cambridge University. With my current experience as a Energy Research professional, I wish to enlarge my technical knowledge of energy systems and turn my focus towards their applications in practice. By reading the course curriculum available online, I have found that the subject material covered will best suit my career goals. Lastly, the prospect of participating in a mandatory exchange program is an excellent way to observe different information systems, as well as build upon my cultural awareness.
Studying for that particular program has a great importance to me, because it is an important step in achieving my professional goal: working on engineering projects as a technical consultant in the energy and resources sector.
Since I was a child, I have always been energetic, inquisitive and interested in how things work. At the same time, I was diligent and I especially enjoyed studying the basics of physics, mathematics and science in general.
In university, I did a bachelor degree in Oil Engineering, which is an important area economically for Kazakhstan at that period of time. I studied a wide range of subjects including the pipeline system as a whole, as well as how to design, build and operate compressors and pump stations, tank farms, complex offshore equipment and onshore pipelines.
By the time I graduated, I have already had a full understanding of the dynamic nature of the energy industry, especially in connection to the growing demand for energy efficiency, environmental and industrial safety, sustainability, and the need to optimize production processes in companies.
The Kazakh oil industry and energy sector is in need of modernization. Therefore, I would be glad and honored to apply my knowledge gained from this program towards improving the state of the energy industry in Kazakhstan.
I am particularly interested in learning more about diagnostics and non-destructive testing methods as well as a resource-saving technologies which I believe are highly important for my future career. In addition as a minor specialization, I plan to choose Bio-Energy Systems – an excellent alternative to hydrocarbons in regions that are located far from the oil and gas fields and where sustainable fuel solutions are preferred.
I hope that my previous studies, particularly bio-energy technology solutions and turbomachinery in renewable energy, have given me the expertise to think inversely about finding solutions to contemporary issues in the energy and resources sector.
As a Bachelor student, I did an apprenticeship at the KazMunayGas – one of the leading Kazakhstani companies in the construction of gas pipelines, underground gas storage facilities, compressor stations and delivery measuring stations. At the end of the traineeship, I have gained holistic view of the innovative solutions that were applied in the construction of the Kazakhstan compressor station No. 4 of the “Kazakhstan – China” gas pipeline. This opportunity helped me to reinforce my teamwork skills and gave me a practical engineering experience.
For the last three years, I have been attending the lectures organized by the SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers). Most of them were held on the Campus of the University Of Central Asia, and were held in both English and Russian. On these lectures I have gained some international experience exchange in solving problems of the energy sector. Moreover, I consider that they have played a crucial role in developing my research interests, and helped me to become more aware of the latest technological solutions in the sector of energy management.
In summary, I would highly benefit from this master program, as international experience will provide an opportunity to work for big International companies, that have offices in Kazakhstan, and which are highly involve in energy sector of the country. Therefore, I am confident that the courses in this program match perfectly with my professional and personal areas of interest and academic expectations.
I believe that with my work and studies I have a solid foundation, but through the Master’s program I hope to develop expertise and boost my career prospects.
Thank you very much for considering my application and I am looking forward to hearing from you.
