Dear Sir, Madam,

My name is Rasheed Mooji and I will graduate from Seventh Grammar School in 2020. I am writing this letter to apply for admission into the Bachelor of Commerce program with major in Accounting at Monash University, as I am interested both in commerce and in accounting.

In my opinion, many people in India without reference to their qualification, are largely uninformed in matters of commerce, even though they are dealing with commercial activities on a daily basis. I feel that I can acquire more knowledge and experience in Australia, than here. Therefore, I would like to pursue my degree there. Furthermore, I have always been interested in that invisible force that moves the world and our daily lives. I have always been interested in commerce as I have been taking advanced Math and English courses since 2016. India is now in an urgent need of new ideas and young professionals, and I want to be one of them. Thus, I would like to prepare by obtaining a degree in the Australia. Moreover, I have chosen to apply for Monash, because I really like its module system of study.

I have an ambition to work as a chief finance officer in the finance sector in the future. To achieve that goal, I need a solid educational base and I believe that your institution would give me the required academic preparation and some practical experience. I am highly motivated by the competitive nature of the field I have chosen and I am ready to work hard to attain my professional and academic aspirations.

I am confident that Monash University would be an excellent start for an ambitious business career. For improving my education in commerce and preparing to start a career with confidence, Monash University is the most appropriate choice for me. Moreover, your institution has a good ranking which makes it even more attractive as a choice for undergraduate studies. Insomuch I am amazed by the University and I believe in you and your program.

I consider myself to be a good candidate because of my thirst for knowledge. I also have a flexible and tolerant personality and can easily adapt to any environment. I believe that I should follow my dream while I am still young because now, I believe I can achieve anything. Thus, I am quite sure that I would like to apply for Monash University program in order to achieve my goals. I do well under pressure but motivating environment can stimulate me to perform even better.

In conclusion, I would like to reconfirm that I am eager to gain new experiences, improve my skills and Broaden my understanding of the dynamic commercial world.

Thank you very much for considering my application.

Yours faithfully,

Sincerely yours,

Rasheed Mooji

The motivation letter for college admission helps determine whether someone is suitable candidate for admission into the college of his choice. The admissions process has increasingly become more competitive than before. Therefore, there is no specific motivation letter – writing approach that can assure you will get admission, but a few tips can provide better chance at obtaining acceptance.

The most important thing is to commit yourself to studying a reading of everything about college.

The main objective is to convey how much you adore this college and that it is perfect for you. Think about it as if you were trying to convince someone to go on the date with you. When looking for someone to date with, you want to know everything about this person. You would want to know a great deal about this person to be able to communicate effectively and build better relationship with this person.

A motivation letter for college application is very similar to the dating process in how it works. The goal is to let the admissions counselor know all about you and to give them enough that they think you might be a good fit for what they have to offer.

Why would you like to attend this college?

The motivation letter for college application has to convey why you want to attend this specific college. Hence, it is essential to not exaggerate too much and end up sounding unrealistic. Best would be to avoid statements like this one “I think Harvard College is the greatest college in the world and I’ve desired to go there since my childhood”. Instead, try honestly presenting all the reasons why you think this college is perfect for you. After all, this is the real reason you are applying to this college anyway.

Sell yourself

Sell your profile!

Every college has specific type of students that they specifically look for. You should strive to market yourself as that type of student.

Clearly, you must mention the academic qualifications you have, especially if you are on the honor roll. While applications do look at academics, admittance is not all based solely on a one’s academic standing. If the college is known for having an outstanding drama club or sports team, and those areas are something you excel in, then be sure to make mention of this.

Take a closer look at the brochure for the college; does it talk about student life or civic events? If you are involved in different things around the community, mention that. Reading all documentation on the school can give you an advantage in comparison to the other prospective candidates.

What is your unique offer?

Clarify that you have something unique to offer. After talking about why you are perfect for the college, start focusing on what the college offers that is good for you. You can focus on anything from the sports team to the desire to be a part of the drama club.

Just because you are perfect student will not necessarily give you an advantage. Keep in mind that there would be thousands of other straight A candidates who have applied as well. It is important to display why you will be a great addition to the college campus.

Check the spelling of your motivation letter!

Probably the worst thing you can do is submit a motivation letter for college application with grammatical or spelling errors. Have others look over the letter and make sure it is error free!

A motivation letter, or sometimes called letter of motivation or motivational letter, is actually a letter being send together with your professional resume to support your application for job, University admission or internship. The motivational letter is actually a personal statement which should persuade selection panel, or human resource clerk that you are perfect candidate for a position.

Motivation letter is a compulsory document only when it is specified in Call for Application, but even if the employer or University do not require motivation letter it is good thing to send one, because letter of motivation serves as an excellent platform for persuading the selection panel. Hence, the content and wording of the motivational letter must be tailored toward particular advertisement, making your application stand out of the crowd.

Bear in mind that employer or Universities receive very high number of applications, and a good motivation letter can be one of the most important factors that differentiate you from the other candidates. Although writing motivation letter can be a boring thing to many people, motivation letter is the only platform where you can demonstrate that you are perfect candidate for the position. This is especially relevant for fresh graduates. Imagine a situation when some company publishes a call for paid internship where the only formal requirement is a specific degree. Call would probably attract hundreds of fresh graduates, having more or less similar resume and experience. In this situation motivational letter is actually the only document that could help you stand out of the crowd since the experience and skills are not working for your profit.

The difference between a cover letter and a motivation letter

When you look into definitions of both, you will probably realize that motivation and cover letter refer to the same type of the letter: letter of introduction accompanying another document such as a resume or CV.

In practice motivation (al) letter is used for application for non-job opportunities, such as University admission, voluntary work, CSOs, while cover letter is more utilized in professional practice because it only highlights the skills and experience relevant to the advertised post. Reason behind is that probably professionals are motivated with the money, while students and volunteers have other drivers. On the other hand professionals usually have vast experience behind, so there is no need to additionally prove their competences for the job, while students have to try harder to prove the link.

However, differences between two types of letters are minor in everyday practice. So in business practice we can only distinguish two main alterations:

Motivation letter has to deliver motivational statement, while in cover letter there is no need to point out your motivation in particular;

Wording and language used to draft cover letters is more formal than the one used in motivational letters, and this is actually due to absence of motivational statement in cover letters.

Should I send Cover ot Motivation letter?

In follow up to the previous discussion, we highlight once again that it is hard to make strict distinction between two, so we strongly advise you to send the letter which is specified in the Call for Applications. If the Call does not specify which letter is to be sent, we recommend you to follow this logic bellow:

Send motivation (motivational) letter to non – job applications, such as University admission, Conference Application, language school applications, paid and unpaid internships, jobs in relief agencies and in charities.

In all other cases send a Cover letter, or sometimes called Application letter, or Letter of Application.

We wish you a lot of success with your application!
